Twentieth-Century Prints from the Nancy Gray Sherrill, Class of 1954, Collection
The Davis Museum and Cultural Center recently acquired the Nancy Gray Sherrill, Class of 1954, Collection of twentieth-century prints by American artists. The collection features key works by artists and movements important to the history of twentieth-century American art as well as an array of printmaking techniques. The Sherrills’ gift also includes a significant commitment to funding future acquisitions that will allow for considerable development of the Davis’ collection of American prints. The Nancy Gray Sherrill, Class of 1954, Collection significantly expands the museum’s holdings of works on paper and the depth of the collection as a whole and will prove to be an invaluable resource for students, faculty, and visitors. Currently, the museum is featuring an exhibition of highlights from the Sherrill Collection, reflecting the collecting interests of Joseph N. and Nancy Gray Sherrill (Class of 1954). American Identities: Twentieth-Century Prints from the Nancy Gray Sherrill, Class of 1954, Collection, curated by Elaine Mehalakes, the Nancy Gray Sherrill, Class of 1954, Curatorial Fellow, was accompanied by an exhibition catalogue and a searchable online database of the entire collection.
