Duties, Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director/Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Davis Museum
and Cultural Center is looking for a student worker to assist in research
and the administration of curatorial and administrative work. Art history
majors or those with significant research experience in the humanities
will be given preference. Responsibilities include some art-historical
research, including work on objects in the Davis Museum’s collections
of prints and drawings,potential acquisitions, and on upcoming special
exhibitions (using resources available in or through the art library),
working with the museum's new MIMSY collections database, assisting in
curatorial correspondence, and basic office work (organizing and maintaining
departmental files).

Research and administrative assistance for the Curator
of Education.
Duties, Responsibilities:
The primary duty of the Education Assistant is to aid the
Curator of Education in the development of educational
programming
for K-12 public school audiences within the Boston Metro-west
area. This includes researching the Museum’s collections
and exhibitions as well as its audiences. The Education Assistant
will contribute to the production of curriculum materials,
which local teachers will use in linking the Museum resources
to their curricula. The Education Assistant can also expect
to work on projects related to the development of public events
and programs.
The ideal candidate balances wide-ranging interests in art
history, museums and/or studio art, as well as the educational
application of these practices. Research capabilities in the
humanities and/or the social sciences are also a plus. Responsibilities
include research into specific objects in the Davis collection
(using resources available in or through the art library),
creating written reports on objects as well as broader groupings,
research into the Massachusetts Department of Education State
Standards, and basic office work.

In general, the PR Assistant helps with the preparation

Davis Museum and its related programs. Tasks include but
are not limited to maintaining and preparing press lists,
mail lists, and email lists; assembling press kits; obtaining,
maintaining and developing photo/image files, and preparing,
maintaining and disseminating press clips, among other organizational
tasks. Design and creation of e-flyers (PhotoShop) for on
and off campus audiences. Small research projects will be
assigned as required. The assistant helps support requests
for information from the media and from the campus community.
They will maintain the media clips archive.
The PR Assistant may also be asked to assist with proofreading
and gathering information for DMCC publications, web site,
and other channels of information distribution. The PR Assistant
reports to the Marketing Manager.
Overall, this PR Assistant helps perform the day-to-day functions
of the pr and marketing department in support of the museum’s
objective to disseminate information to various constituent
groups on campus and in the greater community.

Duties, Responsibilities:
This position is ideal for a student who is curious about museum work,
both research and administrative areas. The projects assigned by the
director will include research for course, exhibition and acquisition
projects of all sizes. The work will deal with current and important
projects of the museum, and can be exceptionally interesting.

• The projects for the director will be wide-ranging and will require organizational

for the museum staff. The student may also help coordinate other computer-based

Required skills/experience:

The research assistant reports to the Curator of Contemporary
Art.
The student is expected to assist the Curator of Contemporary
Art in her upcoming contemporary exhibitions and its related
educational programming and publications (but not limited
to) such as on Ad Infinitum: Serial Imagery in 20th-Century
Drawings (fall/winter 2004); an exhibition drawn from
a major New York collection, on Russian (Moscow and Berlin
based) contemporary painter and installation artist Valery
Koshlyakov (September/October 2004) and other exhibitions
to come.
Duties, Responsibilities:
The student is expected to successfully help the curator with the upcoming
fall exhibitions in terms of exhibition related tasks. This involves
to research and write artists’ biographies. The student will
also have the opportunity to assist the curator with the exhibitions
in its various stages when writing the labels for the exhibited works
of art and compiling material for the docents. Finally, the student
will also collaborate with the curator (and the artist in residence)
on the educational programming in conjunction with the exhibitions
when coordinating events and assisting the various speakers with their
needs to present their talks.

Security Guards are an active, visual presence in the Davis
Museum. Guards interact with
visitors on various levels; including life safety, visitor assistance,
parcel control, monitoring and controlling access to the museum and the
collection. As visitors may only come in personal contact with Security
Dept. staff, it is vital that the Guards are alert, friendly, and helpful.
There are four security posts which all guards will be required to work:
Gallery Patrols, Information Desk, Jewett Bridge Desk, and Standby Duty.
There are three Security Guard classifications: Regular Guard, Lead Guard,
and Head Trainer Lead Guard.
